Halo Infinite Aircraft - "The AV-49 Wasp complements the existing stock of AV-14 and AV-22 aircraft in naval service. VTOL close air support armed with heavy machine guns and twin rocket launchers."

The AV-49 shares a number of similarities with its Air Force counterparts, the AV-14 Hornet, AV-19 SkyHawk, AV-22 Sparrowhawk, and AV-30 Kestrel.

The aircraft has an internal VTOL propulsion system that combines the twin lift fan engines used by the AV-30 (although these engines are largely derived from the earlier JOV-99 Kestrel).

Designed for expeditionary purposes, the Wasp can be easily constructed and deployed with minimal tools, and the hardened storage containers are the same dimensions as NAVLOGCOM standard flat-bed containers, simplifying interstellar transport logistics.

The Wasp was developed by Misriah Armory along with the STINGER-class Mjolnir, two neural interface controllers that allow the operator to switch from flight to ground combat modes at the speed of thought.

After the abolition of colonial military rule, the UN Security Council was considering the widespread adoption of Vestol Corporation's JOV-99 Kestrel. However, strong lobbying by the Misriah Armory saw the Wasp selected to replace the Kestrels, which would find service in the UNSC Army and colonial militias.

Although in use in 2553, the Wasp was still being tested by the UN Security Council as of 2558. By then, Spartan Operations had been asked to evaluate its tactical utility for their specific needs, and the SPARTANS were able to test the vehicle in War. Game simulations or review prototypes built on the UNSC Infinity in Hangar A-6. Due to the ease of assembly, Spartan Commander Palmer recommended that all SPARTANs in Infinity become familiar with the process.

UNSC doctrine uses the Wasp as a weapons escort for troop transports or on-call close air support for special forces teams.

The Office of Naval Intelligence uses its own variant of the Wasp, which it uses for night combat and covert surveillance missions.

Although the Wasp is a capable aircraft, many UNSC military garrisons, local defense forces and militia groups have little reason to switch to an aircraft that requires constant external maintenance, preferring the JOV-99 Kestrel.

Until the Battle of Zeta Halo in 2560, the Wasp was still used by the UN Security Council. However, the models used in Facility 07 did not have the energy saver present in previous test iterations.

Halo Infinite Aircraft

So you've won the Halo demo (opens in a new tab). Even if you haven't played Master Chief's 2001 debut (or 2003 on PC), chances are you know about The Silent Cartographer. Halo: Combat Evolved's fourth mission is a masterpiece of level design, a solid showcase for Bungie's FPS sandbox, and as the chosen level for the game's wildly popular demo, it's probably the most instantly recognizable mission in the entire series.

Of course you'd be forgiven for thinking it was. Many previews (opens in a new tab) and reviews (opens in a new tab) have compared Halo Infinite's sprawling world to the first game's open island, and 343 even has the name Cartographer (opens in a new tab) as its base. inspiration comes out. The studio isn't wrong either – after all, Bungie didn't choose The Silent Cartographer as the game's test map for nothing.

You see, the Silent Mapping device is very good at fooling you. For those unfamiliar, the map sees you land on a D-Day-style fortified beach, jumping off ships to invade a Covenant-held island. Once the LZ is secured, you're given seemingly free reign to explore the island, stepping into ancient alien structures to find your way through the maze beneath the island's surface.

You can follow the main path counter-clockwise around the island, but you can also immediately turn back and find another path earlier than intended, skipping the first few encounters entirely. Silent Cartographer also has large open areas to beat the Warthog (or take advantage of the game's physics to send a jeep into orbit).

Aside from skipping the first section, The Silent Cartographer has a very tight sequence of events. It's fantastically clever in its line, refreshing the same locations with new challenges that make you really feel like you're prowling this island fortress for weak spots, but it's not the standard for what open-world Halo can look like.

The Art Of Halo Infinite

Instead, Halo Infinite probably owes its credit to the lesser-remembered Halo second installment, the confusingly named Halo. Crash-landing on the ring world and emerging into a large alpine valley, Halo promises a wide open world full of mysteries and alien attacks.

Halo (the level) immediately introduces us to the pine forests of the Pacific Northwest, which will become the defining environment of Halo Infinite's open world. Lay the two games side by side and they're practically identical, save for decades of graphical improvement.

But it's not until the second half of Halo (the level) that Infinity's roots are revealed. After rescuing the first group of survivors from the Fall Pillar and making their way through the ancient alien tunnels, Chief reappears in a huge open canyon. There are three more teams to rescue on the map, and they can be revealed in any order.

Battlefield 2042 Now Has Three Times More Players Than Halo Infinite

Each group presents its own problems and offers its own tools. The closest one hides in a dense boulder field, repelling Covenant ships at close range. But if you push a little further, you'll find an early sniper rifle guarded by marines stationed on a steep slope. If you want to continue traveling with the Warthog, the farthest group is entrenched in a wide open structure at the edge of the cliff - with lanes wide enough to take out groups of Grunts and Jackals on the run.

It's an incredibly primitive form of open world, and each team is set up in such a way that there's an expected order to face them. every rescue.

Here, in 2001, the template for Halo Infinite emerged. Zeta Halo itself is a lush pine forest filled with marines to rescue and ancient structures to explore. Of course, in 2021, it also knows exactly what open-world games can be, and it's packed with more action, more mystery, and more variety of challenges to face. But with Halo, Bungie could also write the design blueprint for its successor 20 years later.

I wish Halo Infinite was actually a little more like Silent Cartographer. In my review of Halo Infinite (opens in a new tab), I lamented that the game never ventured beyond the pine forests and Forerunner facilities—once attached to a piece of the ring, its missions couldn't go to new locations. Allowed for Halo 1.

So What's Looks Like A Ship In The Distance Of One Of The New Screenshots Of Infinite Looks Oddly Similar To This Ship From Halo Reach's Epilogue Ending. Thoughts?

A forest filled with bad guys to kill and allies to rescue is fun, but many of its parts blend into a pine-scented blur. Infinity needs more locations that feel like unique, grounded locations, places that develop character over the course of the game.

Filled with ancient secrets of the past, this small, dense island needs places with its charm and complexity.
