Youth Center Hurlburt Field - The Hurlburt Field Youth Center is home to the Air Force Children and Youth Program. School-Age Care provides childcare for military families who enjoy the wonder of the Nature Explore Classroom. Youth ages 5-12 participate in high-reward activities and unstructured play in one of ten areas.
Families and visitors are immediately struck by the outdoor space upon entering the patio garden. You then travel through the bamboo entrance to the gross motor area. In the opinion of the local youth, they can choose to play in the movement and music area, the climbing area (stone wall), the sand area, the construction area, the water area, the gathering area, the art area and the messy area.

The area continues to grow and is updated every year. Improvements this year include turning the patio into a zen garden with a stone path, a solar-powered water feature, and a dry riverbed. Walking through the park, you can hear different types of wind chimes when children walk, as they are at children's level so that children can interact with each other.

The entry has also been updated this year with new bamboo canes that will be a climbing feature for various plants. The music and movement room has new instruments and benches to give the space an amphitheater feel. Youth can organize concerts and events for other youth and families. New tree stumps have been added to the construction area that will be organized by the youth to design all kinds of structures along with other building materials.
STEM materials are brought into the environment for young people to explore and investigate the world around them using identification guides, magnifying glasses and more. Future plans include updating the water area, art area and raw materials area. The Nature Explore Classroom remains a highlight of the Hurlburt Field Youth Center and a staple of our program.
